Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Design
After seeing Xiaomi Redmi Y1, it can be said with confidence that the impression of the Xiaomi family is clearly visible. If you consider it at first glance Xiaomi Redmi 4, then nothing will be shocking in it. Take the phone in your hands and you will realize that this is larger than Xiaomi Redmi 4. It has a 5.5 inch display. In Redmi Y1 you will get a 16 -megapixel front camera with a selfie flash. There are capacitive touch buttons for navigation under the screen.
This phone with 153 grams is very light and Xiaomi has used plastic to keep weight low. Chrome highlights, give a feeling of metal back platt. But the rear and edges are made of plastic. Power and volume buttons are also plastic. The 13 -megapixel primary camera and flash top are on the edge and the fingerprint sensor has got a place in the middle. The position of the scanner is convenient. There is a sim tray on the left side. You will find 2 Nano SIM slots. Apart from this, there is also a separate slot for microSD card to increase storage.

There is a microUSB port on the lower back, while on top is the secondary mike and headphone jack for noysed cancellation in addition to IR blaster. We liked the build quality of Redmi Y1. Xiaomi has used good quality plastic which gives a feeling of premium. The retail box of the handset is simple. The box has a SIM easeer tool, 10 watt charger and a micro-USB cable.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1’s specification and feature
To speed up this phone, the company has used Snapdragon 435 processor. This processor has been used in Xiaomi Redmi 4 (Review). The highest clock speed of this octa-core processor is 1.4 GHz. Redmi Y1 has two variants. Comes with a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. At the same time, the second is 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. Whether you choose any variant. You have the facility to use microSD cards up to 128 GB.
This phone has a 5.5 screen HD 720×1280 resolution. There is a 2.5D curved corning gorilla glass for protection. The important feature of Redmi Y1 is a 16 -megapixel front camera which is equipped with a selfie flash. There are very few phones with this variety of sensors on the front panel in the market. The front flash causes the phone and attractiveness. The rear part has a 13 -megapixel sensor with PDAF and F/2.2 aperture.

The battery of Redmi Y1 is 3080 mAh. This is much lower than the 4100 mAh battery of Xiaomi Redmi 4. For connectivity, Xiaomi Redmi Y1 has Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS and GLONASS. Accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, hall sensor and gyroscope are part of it. Both SIM slots support 4G and VoLTE. But at one time only one SIM will be able to use 4G network.
We have got 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variants for review. It was running on MIUI 9 beta based on Android Nougat. MIUI 9 has many new features. Early buyers of Redmi Y1 will get MUI 8. The stable version of MIUI 9 will be available in the coming weeks. The UI will be updated, but it is not clear whether Xiaomi will update the version of Android. If you have first used MIUI, then the updated user interface will be easily understood. But if you have used stock Android or any other skin, then it will take you some time to get into it. The interface of the settings has changed to some extent and the MIUI app also handles the permission in a different way. As soon as you get to know about this user interface, you will start MUII.

You will get new features like dual apps. With the help of this, you will be able to run two accounts simultaneously in an app like Parvhatsap and Facebook. The phone also has a reading mode which makes the color tone of the screen a little warm. Because of this, using the phone at night becomes more comfortable. Many apps of Xiaomi will also be installed in advance. Apart from this, the company also has its own store. There is a theme support, with the help of which you will be able to change the look of the phone in a few seconds. Please tell that we were using MIUI 9 beta. It is possible that things change a little in the final build.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1’s performance and camera
Given the trusted hardware, there is nothing shocking that the experience of using Redmi Y1 was good. After scanning fingerprint faster, the phone quickly unlocles. The apps are also launched fast. We liked the exact color reproduction and viewing angle of the screen of Redmi Y1. You can change the color temperature of the display according to your choice. The phone also handles multitasking firmly. Overall, we liked the jugalbandi of software and hardware in this phone of Xiaomi.
During testing, we played Clash Royal, Asafalt 8 and Prime Peex Games. The phone had no problem in running these games. The phone did not get very hot even while playing the game. However, we found that the battery consumed rapidly.

The battery of Redmi Y1 is average. The phone lasted for about a day in common use. Its battery lasted for 9 hours 45 minutes in our HD video loop test, which is much less than the 14 hours 20 minutes of Xiaomi Redmi 4. If you have a battery life priority for you, then Redmi 4 seems to be a better option.
The camera app of Redmi Y1 is only with other phones of Xiaomi. You have many modes to choose, such as Panorama, Beautiful and Manual. The app has a quick togle for HDR and flash, which is the feature of the work. The selfie camera has a quick togle for beauty mode. There was no shortage of details in the pictures taken in the light of daylight and Colors were also very accurate. The performance of the camera in low light is not very good. The phone is successful in keeping the noise levels low, but the photos are not good. You will need stable hands to take usable photos.

The most important feature of this new series of the company is selfie. We tested the front camera under different circumstances. Pictures came sharp in the light of the day, but they are seen in a lot of grains when zoom in. Selfie flash proves effective in low light. Portrait shots are good, but the grains are also seen in the background. Pictures get better due to beauty mode. But the front camera is not a thing.
Our decision
If seen, Redmi Y1, Xiaomi is the first attempt to make a selfie -centered phone. The hardware is reliable and is fully capable of most tasks. The MIUI 9 is quite smooth and the users will soon become accustomed to it. The camera performance is good in daylight, but average in low light. Talking about selfie, flash proves to be helpful and beauty mode also works to some extent. But the output is not always good.
The biggest challenge for Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is the company’s own Xiaomi Redmi 4 handset. The price of Redmi Y1 and Redmi 4 is almost equal and most of the hardware features are also the same. Redmi 4 has a metal body and a large battery is available in a more compact body. But Redmi Y1 has a large screen and also front flash. If selfie is most important for you, Redmi Y1 can be purchased. If not, Redmi 4 is still at the forefront of this price.
