Chinese technology company Xiaomi launched its latest flagship smartphone Xiaomi M6 in Beijing last month. The new flagship smartphone and its ceramic variants will be initially available only in the Chinese market. The company adopted the same strategy for Xiaomi Mi4 and Xiaomi Mi5. The company has not given any information regarding launching Xiaomi M6 in India at present, but Gadgets 360 has got a chance to spend time with Xiaomi M6 and Xiaomi Mi 6 Seramic variants. How did we like this phone in the first glimpse? Let’s tell.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is similar to M5 in many respects, especially in texture. However, the new flagship smartphone is more polished and premium due to curved glass on all four sides. Along with this, stainlis steel frames have also been used. The fingerprint sensor in Xiaomi M6 is present under the front glass which gives the phone a distinct identity. Apart from Xiaomi, companies like Samsung have done the same experiment with fingerprint sensor.

At the launch event, the company claimed that the Stanlis steel cover was a less risk of breaking or breaking of Xiaomi M6. Apart from this, M6 is also not threatened by water spatters. The sim tray is sealed to protect from water from water. We hope that after providing the phone, more information will be given about its strength.

Xiaomi has also told about the curved glass design of this phone. In our view, the device feels a premium. However, you will need to clean it again and again because the fingers are easily on it.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 with a 7.5 millimeter thickness is slightly thicker than its old variants. At the same time, the weight of 168 grams makes it more weight than Xiaomi M5. There is no difficulty in using it with one hand, although we found that due to glass finish it slips into the hands. Xiaomi M6 has been introduced in black, white and blue colors and we got a black variant to use.

The ceramic version is more weight than the common variant, but it looks more premit. The ceramic version has 18 carat gold-plated camera rim. Apart from the design, there is no difference between common Xiaomi Mi6 and ceramic version.

The smartphone has a 5.15-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. It is bright and crisp. The viewing angles are also good. However, this can also prove to be the biggest drawback of the phone. Especially compared to Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 which come with a large display with more resolution. But it has to be kept in mind that the price of Xiaomi M6 is about half compared to these handsets.

Xiaomi Mi 6 is the first smartphone of the company with no 3.5mm audio socket. User can expect a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter with retail box. Power and volume buttons are on the right side, and sim tray on the left side.

The most important feature of Xiaomi Mi6 is two rear cameras of 12 megapixels. The same setup has also been used in iPhone 7 Plus. One camera has a wide angle lens and the other telephoto lens. The rear camera has a phase detection autofocus and four anxis anti -shake technology. Xiaomi Mi 6 has an 8 -megapixel front camera equipped with a capacity of 1080 pixels video recording.

In the limited time spent with the phone, we found that Xiaomi M6 focuses fast. Dual mode is not a default mode, that is, only one rear camera works on activating the camera app. But dual camera setup can be activated with a tap. On choosing dual mode, the phone can blur the background and take photos. However, the app repeatedly states that the main subject should not be more than 2 meters away from the camera. In the limited time spent with the phone, we found that pictures taken in portrait mode were good. Among them, the subjects were clean and background blur. Samples were excellent in terms of shots and details. The performance of M6’s camera was also good in low light. The front camera was also fine. We managed to take beautiful selfies even in low light. The camera app has a beauty feature that improves selfie. We will write about the performance of the camera in detail only after reviewing this handset.

Xiaomi Mi 6 will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based on MUI 8. The interface is more clean than before. Split screen multitasking features have also found a place in the interface. The M6 comes with a smart assistant feature which is possible to customize.

Keeping in mind the tag of the flagship smartphone, the company has used the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor in this handset. The highest clock speed is 2.4 GHz. Along with this, there is 6 GB RAM. This is the second smartphone that comes with Snapdragon 835 processor after Samsung Galaxy S8. The phone gave fast response on touch input. After this, in the limited time spent we found that it gives rapid response.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi Mi 6 has been launched in 64 GB and 128 GB storage. And there is no support for microSD card. The dual sim smartphone supports VoLTE and both SIMs will be equipped with LTE. The Xiaomi Mi6 handset is the second smartphone after the Galaxy S8, which comes with Bluetooth 5.0. It would be appropriate to write in detail about the performance of Xiaomi M6 only after the review.

Our thoughts
Xiaomi has not yet made any plans regarding the launch of M6 in India. However, a representative of the company told Gadgets 360 that the news not to be launched in India is completely rumored. We are expecting the price of Xiaomi M6 to be around sugar prices in India as well. Here the company will have a direct fight with OnePlus 3T.

Xiaomi Mi 6 If it is launched in India soon, it will be the first smartphone to come with Snapdragon 835 processor in India. However, there is no other option but to wait.

The Chinese market is priced at Xiaomi M6’s 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variants 2,499 Chinese Yuan (about Rs 23,500). At the same time, a variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage will be available for 2,899 Chinese Yuan (about Rs 27,000). Apart from these two variants, Xiaomi also introduced a third version which will be known as M6 Seramik. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Seramik has a curved ceramic body. It is priced at 2,999 Chinese Yuan (about Rs 28,000). It comes with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage.
