Whether you like or not, the most important design of the year 2017 is the trend long screen. It is not easy for every company to use curved glass. Metal body is expensive, but the expenses are not much to make the display panel bigger. At the beginning of the year, Samsung and LG launched their flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6. These were the early smartphones of this year to come with a big screen. But after this we also saw this feature in Micromax Canvas Infinity of the budget range. Many mid -range phones also want to capitalize on the popularity of this feature.

Oppo has done something similar with its latest smartphone Oppo F5. The design of this phone has also dominated the feature with special front cameras of the F series of the company.

Perhaps there is nothing shocking in it, because this change is clearly obviously. Most people will be attracted by the phone at first glance due to this feature. Even if you like any feature of this phone. But we will test it on every scale.

Oppo f5 design

Companies who have started offering big displays with 18: 9 aspect ratios, they miss making phones with a completely border. The Oppo F5 is also one of them. There is no equal material on the edges. But the remaining materials are clearly visible due to the review unit being white. The top and bottom of the display still reminds of the old phones. The front camera part is next to the earpiece.

We do not like this strategy of companies that give plastic screen protector with the phone in advance. This is good for customers, as they are discharged from purchasing screen protector. But according to us it spoils the look of the phone. The “borderless” effects are lost somewhere due to the additional line of plastic. Something similar happens with Oppo F5.

The rear part is gold colored, that too with matte metallic texture. Sometimes it looks pink in color, which is dependent on light. The bright chrome ring is on the edge of the ring, where the metal back and white colored front panels are met. The phone also has an antenna line with iPhone 7 styled. Generally, this phone is quite good in appearance, but according to us this phone will look better in black.

On the right side you will get a dual sim tray with a power button. At the same time, the volume button on the left is present. There is nothing but Mike Pinhole at the top. At the same time, the lower part is full. There will be a 3.5mm audio socket, micro-USB port, mike and speaker grill here. It is easy to reach the fingerprint sensor on the back. Sadly, the rear camera is of bulging and its metal edges are slightly rough.

Oppo F5 with 7.5 millimeters thickness looks thin and 152 grams weight is also not very high. Due to the rear part texture, there is no difficulty in holding the phone in the hands. Due to screen size, you will not be able to reach every corner of the display with your thumb. The screen of the phone is very large. But the experience of using is good.

Oppo F5’s specification and software

The distance from one edge to the other in the screen is 6 inches. But there is no doubt that it is very compared to the old days of phablet. Its resolution is 1080×2160 pixels. This is due to full-HD resolution fitting into the 18: 9 aspect ratio.

The phone uses MediaTek MT6763T processor which was recently launched. The most clock speed of the processor is 2.3 GHz. Mali G71 MP2 GPU is integrated for graphics. At one time in the Oppo F5, users will be able to use 4G networks from just one SIM. Apart from this, if you change the position of the SIM, then the phone is repeatedly rebooted which is disturbing.

The Oppo F5 is currently launched with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. The company has said that 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variants will also be launched in December. It is worth noting that the 6 GB RAM variant will be available in black and red color.

Other specifications include 3200 mAh battery, 16 megapixel rear camera, 20 megapixel front camera and separate microSD card slot. Dual band Wi-Fi is 802.11 N, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS for connectivity. We were disappointed to see the micro-USB port. Apart from this, the phone does not support fast charging.

Oppo’s custom skin is known as ColorOS. This phone runs on 3.2 version which is based on Android 7.1. If seen, it is one of the very detailed custom user interfaces and also very polished. Many things seem inspired by iOS. All app icons are part of the home screen. Photos, music, videos, browser, clock and other apps are present in custom avatar. You will get an installed Facebook, WPS office and Amazon shopping and prime video apps in advance. By the way, the phone is Flipkart exclusive.

Settings app is quite different from stock Android. In such a situation, you have to investigate some action before taking any action. You will also get a glimpse of the exclusive feature of many colorOS. One of these is Clone Apps. With the help of this feature, you will be able to use many apps with two IDs.

Oppo has also given the face recognition security feature in this phone. We were very excited earlier, because after the iPhone X, this feature has been a topic of discussion. During the review, we found that the registration process failed several times. Even after the set, there was a slight delay in unlocking the phone. If seen in common use, the fingerprint cace is more fast and natural.

Oppo f5 performance

It takes some time to get addicted to its big screen. Sometimes the app also did not fully score. For example, YouTube videos looked in landscape mode as they were being run in a black box.

Apart from this, the display is very good. It is crisp and bright. Colors is Panchi and Viewing Angle Great. Whether it is writing or watching videos, our experience was fantastic. We went to Kho in it. We believe that this experience will be even more spectacular in the black variant. The main drawback is the pre -given screen protector. There are scratch marks on it and leaves the impression of the fingers easily.

The built in speaker is strong. While playing the game and watching the video, there is a clear and complete voice. The accompanying headset is also fine. But the bass is completely missing. After a few minutes it seems a bit strange.

Oppo F5 benchmark scores were better than rivals such as Honor 9i (Review) and Vivo V7 Plus (Review).

The 16 -megapixel rear camera also takes good pictures at night with daylight. There is no shortage of details. Colors are in appropriate amounts and the camera also focuses rapidly. If you get a little light at night, then the pictures are good. Videos are also quite sharp records and smooth in different circumstances.

Oppo F5 has a 20 -megapixel front camera. The company has told about having an AI powered beautification mode in it. Facials are good in selfie, but this cannot be said about the object of the background. You will be able to capture good pictures for social media. According to us, the main reason for taking selfie cameras is also the same. Despite having a selfie -focused phone, the non -mauzudgy of flash looks shocking. But the screen flash works to some extent. The AI will identify the powered beautification mode facial features. And Oppo has told that he has trained Vargoatham on different types of people. So that different beautification techniques are used for different subjects. According to us, there was no significant difference in photographs taken at different levels. Perhaps this technique does not bring any big change, which is an important specialty. Hopefully, its AI feature will be better over time.

Battery life also does not disappoint. We could use the phone for about one and a half days. During this, played a little game and also web browsing. Sadly, the phone does not have quick charge support. The battery lasted 11 hours 24 minutes in our HD video loop test. Looking at the screen, it will be considered good. Disappointment is about the absence of quick charge support. It took about 1 hour to charge the battery from 10 per cent to 65 per cent, which is fine.

Our decision

Oppo has launched a winner phone in the form of F5. The screen is large and emergent. The look is wooing. Battery life is fantastic. Performance is also good for most tasks. The deficiency is the facial recognition which seems more pretending. Apart from this, the storage of Oppo F5 is also less than other phones in this price range. It should have 64 GB storage. Oppo will bring its 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variants, but the price will be 5,000 rupees.

Oppo F5 will be directly clashed with Vivo V7 Plus and Honor 9i. But you have options like Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017).
