Rs 5,499 Nokia 1 Straightforwardly Xiaomi Redmi 5A And 10.or D. challenges. Both these handsets come with a common version of Android. Does Nokia 1 strengthen these handsets on Android Go? Let’s know through review …
Nokia 1 design
The compact and Nifty design of Nokia 1 serves to give it a distinct identity. Especially when the big screen handsets are dominated in the market. There are wide borders above and below the display. At the same time, a white colored rim on the edge of the front panel works to give it a cool look. In the design of Nokia 1, you will see a glimpse of the old Lumia smartphone.
Power and volume buttons are on the right and their position is comfortable. The response of the button is also good. The headphone socket at the top is and micro-USB port on the lower back. The rear camera and single LED flash are within a capt -like texture on the back. Its white colored border works to improve the design.
Nokia 1 feels something unique due to simple and colorful design, express-on rear shell. Also tell that despite taking precautions during the review, there were easily scratch marks on the removable shell.
As expected, Nokia 1 is made of plastic and does not make it feel premium. This phone with a thickness of 9.5 millimeters cannot be called slim, but it becomes easily fit in the hands. There is a battery under the back cover that can be taken out. Different slots of two SIM cards and microSD cards have also been given.

Nokia 6, Nokia 8 And Nokia 3 For example, HMD Global with handsets has created an image to introduce strong and sustainable handsets. Nokia 1 also carries forward this strategy of the company. During the review, the phone fell from our hands once or twice, but nothing happened to it.
Nokia 1 Specification, Performance and Software
Nokia 1 is a smartphone especially made for Android Oreo Go Platform. Android Go, Google’s popular Android OS is a low feature avatar. This is for those budget smartphones that come with weak processor and 1 GB or less RAM.
Nokia 1 is obviously not a powerhouse. It is equipped with a quad core MediaTek MT6737 processor and the highest clock speed is 1.1 GHz. The phone has 1 GB RAM. The battery is 2150 mAh. The 4.5 -inch IPS screen is 480×854 pixels resolution.
Nokia 1 has only one variant with 8 GB inbuilt storage. It is possible to use microSD card up to 128 GB if needed. Talking about the camera, you will get a 5 megapixel fixed focus rear camera and along with LED flash. It has a 2 megapixel fixed focus front camera. The connectivity feature includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, FM radio, micro-USB and 3.5mm audio jack.
Basic user interface is very smooth. But the phone slows down only when 5-6 apps are opened in the background. We found that the phone started slowing down in an ordinary task like scrolling Twitter feed, looking at mobile optimized websites and chatting on WhatsApp.
The first party app like messaging app also took longer than expected to open. Default Maps Go App could not find our location many times. If some apps are open in the background, and if you are playing the game too, the phone becomes more hot. Clearly, the user experience reminded us of the budget smartphone of those days when everything was slow and boring. Today, such complaints are not available in this price range.

The experience of playing games on Nokia 1 was very bad. The subway surfer game, which usually walks easily in every smartphone, was stuck in this handset.
In Android Go, Google has prepared all the default Android app in such a way that it should consume less data. Apart from this, the system UI and Keyal were also changed, so that 512 MB RAM would also work.
Things look very breathtaking on paper. But our first experience with Android Go was not very spectacular. Default applications also work sometimes, sometimes not. Subscription and personal recommendation features are missing from YouTube Go. This app crashed several times during testing. The good thing is that you can decide in which resolution the video should be downloaded. In this way it becomes easy to control data and storage.
The Google Go application is attractive. You get shortcuts for features like translation, ziff search and voice search. With the help of files Go app, user will be able to manage storage.

It also has Nokia’s glance screen feature. You will see notifications of missed calls, alarms, mail, messages etc. in the lock screen.
Overall, our experience was not satisfactory either. What is the reason for this? It is difficult to decide. If Nokia 1 had been on the common Android version, the weak specification of the phone could have been held responsible. However, Android Go platform is designed only for this type of hardware. Whatever the reason, but due to performance, the image of this platform has been discounted.
We were not expecting much from the 4.5 -inch FWVGA IPS display. It is very dull and washed out. It is not easy to read anything in sunlight. Touch response is satisfactory and viewing angles are quite good.
The quality of the call was good in our experience. However, some complaints of call drops were also found in areas with good signal. The only speaker has a loud voice given in the phone, which caught our attention. Even in maximum volume, the voice does not burst. The quality of earphones coming with the phone is very average. Given the price, there is nothing shocking in it.
Nokia 1 camera and battery life
Nokia 1 cameras disappoint like other low -priced phones. In low light, pictures taken from rear camera are very high, and colors look washed out. Photos are good in better light. However, there is a lack of details in the shot. Focused focus seems to struggle while taking macros and close-up shots. You will be able to record the most 720 pixels videos. We found that the recorded clips came with the noise.

The front camera is also average. It gives poor results in low light. The selfie taken during the day is a little better, they can be used on social media. The camera app is easy to use. It also has a manual mode. You will be able to control white balance and exposure.
In our HD video loop battery test, Nokia 1 died in 8 hours 45 minutes which is disappointed. In common use, the battery is barely able to run throughout the day. We found that it was necessary to charge the phone by 7-8 pm every day. It also takes 2 hours for full charge, which is a disappointing thing.
Our decision
The biggest complaint from Nokia 1 is a price of Rs 5,499. If the price of Nokia 1 was kept low, it would be a great option for those users who are thinking of upgrading to the smartphone from the feature phone. If the Jio user keeps in mind the cashback offer, then its effective price is Rs 3,299. But other users should investigate some more options before purchasing this phone. Because today there are many great options for less than Rs 10,000.
Redmi 5A and 10.0R D have been priced around Nokia 1, whose user experience is much better. Android Go is currently in the initial stage, but the existing shortcomings cannot be ignored.
