After reviewing many smartphones, Jio phone gives a very different feeling. It is a feature phone and comes with a standard candy bar design. It is small and holding it in the hands is comfortable. Your thumb will easily reach any button of the keypad. Looking at the price of Rs 1,500, we will say that the build quality of this phone is good. Its grip in the hands is good due to the edge being curved. And weight is not too much.
The screen is 2.4 inches and its resolution is 240×320 pixels. There are two function buttons under the screen. There is a large clicked D-pad, call and disconnect button and number pad. The plastic quality used in the phone is good. On clicking, the button gives good feedback. With a live phone, you will be connected to the Jio Network. You will get unlimited calls and SMS facilities.
There is a 2 megapixel camera on the back and also loudspeakers. There is a VGA camera on the front panel. The device uses micro-USB port for charging. A travel charger is also available in the box. It also has a 3.5 mm headphone socket. The back cover of the live phone goes out. You will be able to see a 2000 mAh removable battery. Nano SIM is a slot and up to 128 GB cards can be used in microSD card slot. Dual core processor has been used in Jio phone. Its RAM is 512 MB and inbuilt storage is 4 GB.
Jio phone runs on KaiOS which is a new mobile operating system. You will find an easily identified app icon in grid layout. Can be easily navigated with the help of D-pad. You can also use every button of D Pad as a shortcut to launch a select app. Basic functions such as calling are very fast. You will be able to call the VoLTE network in a pinch. If you are thinking about using free data available every day with this phone, then let us know that Jio phone does not have any hot spot feature.
The Jio apps phone already have installed. You will be able to access Jio Music, JioTV and JioCinema. Jio Store, is the app store for Jio phone. Here you will find all the apps that are made for the phone. Popular apps like Facebook and YouTube are not available yet, but there are plans to bring them soon. Till then you will be able to use Facebook and YouTube without any hassle with the help of inbuilt web browser. There is also a voice assistant who can handle the basic command in Hindi as well as English. We used it and the results came as expected.
The phone supports 4G and it automatically connects to Reliance Jio Network. We also tried to stream the song on the Geomusic app and did a good job. We also run the Geosinem and JioTV app and found that streaming on 4G networks is spectacular. We were successful in streaming the entire cinema over the phone. You have many options to see, but did not make the screen video of the Jio phone. One is low size and viewing angles are also very bad.
The Jio phone has geolocation and NFC with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. There are many quick togles that can be used from the main screen. The battery plays together. We used both the cameras of the phone. Found that if your hands are not stable then the photos will be blurred. The resolution of the photo is 1600×1200, while the video recording is at 320×240 pixels.
