As the name is revealed, the A1 Plus smartphone is better than A1. This phone has a large battery and dual camera setup on the rear. The specifications of the phone are also better than A1, but will this phone be proved to be the winner in terms of price? Learn in review.
Gionee A1 Plus Design
The first thing on which our first eye is that is a big size of Jio A1 Plus. It is a large device and also feels heavy. The 6 inch display means that it is difficult to hold the A1 Plus several times with one hand. The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the front and capacitive touch buttons are given on the front. You can change the function of capacitive button according to your own and they are not backlit which means that it will be difficult to use them in the dark.
The weight of this phone is 226 grams and it is more than the large size Xiaomi Mi Max 2. The phone looks uncomfortable due to being heavy while talking for a long time. The reason behind the phone is the 4550 mAh battery given by Gionee. The rear panel of the phone is made of metal but its last end is felt by plastic. The rear of the phone feels slightly slippery, and due to the vazni, the phone will need to be taken some care while using it.

Gionee has given a power button in the phone but you have to work a little to reach the volume button. The dual cameras given on the rear are given in the middle and there is also a soft LED flash for the front camera. The Jio A1 Plus has two grills at the bottom, of which there is a right speaker. However, the phone has stereo output as Gionee has used the earpiece of the phone as another speaker. The phone has a micro-USB port for charging and data that is slightly shocking, as nowadays most devices are coming with USB Type-C port.
In the box, Gionee has given a plastic screen protector with the phone and a transparent case for the phone. Apart from this, in-age headphones and an 18 watt charger and SIM Ejector Tool will also be available.
Gionee A1 Plus Specification
The 6 -inch display given in Gionee A1 Plus attracts the most. Which comes with full HD resolution (1080×1920 pixels). Vivid colors are available from the display and you can set them at your convenience. While the viewing angle is good, it is very easy to use the phone even in sunlight. Even when brightness is low, the screen remains shiny all the time. Due to the glass rear, there are spots but there are no fingers.

In the A1 Plus, Gionee has chosen the MediaTek Helio P25 processor that runs on the octa-core processor. The phone has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage which can be increased to 256 GB via microSD card. However, to increase storage, another SIM card has to be removed as the A1 Plus has a hybrid dual-sim tray. The first slot will require a micro SIM while the second slot will require a Nano-SIM card. The phone gets 4G VOATE support.
Gionee A1 Plus Software & Performance
Talking about the software, the Gionee A1 Plus runs on Android 7.0 on which Custom Amigo UI is given. This UI does not have an app drawer and all icons are given on homescreen. Notifications will appear when swipe from top to bottom on the screen and when swipe from bottom to top can be togle with a panel like an iOS. We found that the Settings app has been again organized, so you have to work hard to find various options in the settings. The setting also has a tab called ‘feature’ which gives guidelines for the gesture used for the feature of the phone.
This phone consists of apps like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Amazon, Sawan, Zadar, Trueler and Touchpal Keyboard in advance. We found TouchPal keyboard spamy because it would load a web-based game on the phone and become a floating visit on the screen. Peel remote is a remote app and this phone has an additional feature because this phone does not have an infrared ammeter. Apart from the Google Play Store, Gionee has also given his own store. Overall, the UI is different and may take some time to get used to it.

We tested A1 Plus on benchmark data. The performance of the phone is fine in terms of everyday use and 4 GB RAM helps a lot while switching between the app. During use, we found that even after use for a day, about 2 GB of RAM was empty.
The phone has a 4550 mAh battery with which the phone easily lasts for one and a half days. We found that while playing the game, the phone’s battery ends soon. In our HD video loop test, the phone battery lasted for 14 hours and 43 minutes. The phone is charged in two hours with 18 watt charger and the phone is also charged during charging.
Gionee A1 Plus Camera
Keeping the trend of dual rear cameras, Gionee A1 Plus has a 13 -megapixel and a 5 -megapixel dual rear camera setup. The camera app has a professional mode, which gives more control for the camera setting. The camera app has many filters.
Photos taken from Gionee A1 are extremely average. Color reproduction is also not good. We got to see purple color in many pictures. On taking pictures from a short distance, there is a shortage of detailing in the pictures. Photos taken in low light came with dark and detailing lack. Switching the camera in night mode helps but it provides extra noise.
The secondary camera only works in portrait mode where it is used for depth calculation. After which Artificial Blur Effect is included. Video recording up to 1080 pixels is limited, while the same price Moto Z2 plays a record of 4 of 4 frames per second.
The phone has a 20 -megapixel sensor with a soft selfie flash. Good pictures come from the phone but look flat. The shocking thing is that it does not have a beautification mode, so you may be disappointed. But before taking a selfie, you will get options to apply filter.

Our decision
Gionee A1 Plus is not for everyone due to size. It is not easy to hold it in hand and you will need a big pocket for this. However, the phone has a large battery and the performance is good in terms of price. UI is worth using. In this, you will not get fun like stock Android, so some people may not like it. The camera performance is very average and the secondary camera works only on portrait mode.
If you are looking for a big screen phone with big battery, then A1 Plus can be thought of. However, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a better option than its low price. In addition, you can also think of Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro or low -priced Moto Z2 Play. Or you can also buy OnePlus 3T (review) by paying a little higher price.
