Lenovo’s Moto G series is known for Value for Money Products. And Indian customers have taken these handsets in hand. Since 2014, 70 lakh Moto G handsets have been sold in India. The fifth generation devices of this series Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus were launched in India a few months ago. They are still available in the market and meanwhile Lenovo has launched the special edition of both handsets in the market.

The new Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus handsets were launched in India last month. New features and upgrade have been promised with both handsets. This year has been very busy for the Motorola brand. Moto E, Moto C and Moto Z handsets have been launched in India. At the same time, the Moto X4 was recently launched in the international market. Lenovo has given the important reason to the increasing challenges in the price segment of Rs 15,000 behind the introduction of new handsets of G series. At the same time, customers are also not avoiding the expense. Will Lenovo use this strategy? Let’s know.

Moto G5s Plus and Moto G5s Design

Lenovo sees its Moto G device as ‘Value for Money’ product than a better specified handset at a cheap price. These phones are strong with functional. But he was never known for beauty. Moto G5 and G5 Plus are the early handsets of the company’s Moto G series in which metal was used slightly. In the Special Edition device, the company has tried to take this strategy further.

Moto G5S and G5S Plus are full-metal body devices. Keeping the device in the hands gives more premium than the old variants, especially the Moto G5S Plus.

Recent moto devices have used the same design language. There is no harm in this. Both are fingerprint readers on the front panel of the phone who work without hassle. The front panels of both handsets are almost the same.

The old-style micro-USB port is at the bottom of the phone. Speaker grills and microphones have found a place on both sides of it. There is a circular bulge for the camera in which sensors and flash modules have found a place. The well-known Moto logo is in the middle and the antenna band still appears clearly. Overall, Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus are much better than the old variants. Both handsets are safe from modest splashes of water, as they come with nano coating.

Moto G5S Plus is wide and screen is also larger than the Moto G5 Plus (Review). This phone is not suitable for using one hand. It is possible to manage 168 grams of weight. On the other hand, the build quality of Moto G5S is excellent. And the texture is such that it is comfortable to use it with one hand. This phone with 157 grams makes it feel light according to its body.

The 5.5-inch full-HD screen of Moto G5S Plus comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is a bright panel. Text and image looks crisp. Colors come to the screen. We have no complaint with this. The viewing angle and brightness levels are also fine.

Moto

The Moto G5S has a 5.2-inch full-HD screen. There is also a protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on this. It is made for daily use. Brightness is fine. However, its panel was reflecting more than our choice. In the direct light of the sun, we had difficulty in reading it on it. Because of this, repeated brightness had to be taken to the highest level. The viewing angles are good but we had to face a lot of difficulty in using outdoor.

Both phones come in the green retail box, on which “Special Edition” is clearly written on the front. This makes it clear that these phones are upgraded to the fifth generation device of Moto G phone. You will get a turbo power charging adapter, micro-USB cable, SIM Ejector Tool and Headset.

The handsets of both run on Android 7.1 Nougat, which is not the latest Android version available in the market today. Like other moto devices, Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus also have some software features of Motorola.
You will find many features of many work of Android 7.1 Nougat, such as the facility to perform Quick Action by tapping on the app icon for a long time. Splt screen multitasking feature will be available. Both phones will get almost stock Android experience, with a slight temper of Motorola. You will get software features such as Moto Actions and Moto display. With the help of Moto Actions, you will be able to activate the One Banat Nava. After this you will be able to navigate on the screen through fingerprint sensor. Under the Moto display, users will be able to activate night display mode which reduces blue lights. Apart from this, it fed in and fed the notification in standby mode.

The Moto device is one of the Chuninga non-Gagal smartphones that get Android Security update. In such a situation, you should be confident of the software update in the future. There will also be no unwanted app in Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus.

Moto G5s Plus and Moto G5s cameras

There has been a flood of dual camera smartphones in the Indian market. Moto G5S Plus is the new member of this club. It works. It took us some time to get acquainted with its dual camera setup. You have the facility to edit even after taking pictures but the photo still needs polishing. In good light, the background in the depth shot is sufficiently blurred. But the edge does not seem clearly defined. Lenovo will have to work on this. On the other hand, Moto G5S Plus looks more capable of photography in low light than Xiaomi Mi A1. We were successful in taking a fine shot with good details and controlled noise levels in low light.

In good light, regular shot also had natural colors and textures. Landscape shots taken from Moto G5S Plus also came well. HDR mode also works well. However, we found that highlights under bright conditions were many times more exposed.

We believe that Moto G5S Plus gives better performance from existing challenges under low light conditions.

The camera of Moto G5s is much better than the Moto G5. The Moto G5S acquires the correct exposure with the help of Faiz Detection Autofocus and remains accurate on most occasions in autofoksing. There was no dearth of details in the out door shot. But highlights sometimes have excessive exposes. Moto G5S works excellent in a macro shot. We were successful in taking many best close up shots, better than Moto G5S Plus. The landscape shot will be considered average. There were some shortcomings in the indoor shot. There were no details in shadows or dark areas. The camera of Moto G5S is weak in low light. There was a lot of noise in our sample shot.

Moto G5S Plus and Moto G5S Performance Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus are mostly performed. We never felt the need for more power. There was no problem in playing games with powerful graphics on Moto G5S Plus. There is also no complaint with multi -tasking. 5.5 inch display is perfect for watching videos and playing games. However, we complain of the phone being hot. If the camera app also remains open for a short time, then the phone becomes very hot. This is shocking, because Xiaomi Mi A1 and Mi Max 2, which come with this processor, are not so hot.

The speaker of the Moto G5S Plus gives enough sound to the small room. But the voice on the most volume is not clear. The headset given with Moto G5S Plus is of average quality. You should not keep more expectations than this. The shocking thing is that the voice over LTE support was not available in the handset while reviewing. For this reason, we will be able to make phone calls from Reliance Jio SIM only after using Jio 4 Voice App in the phone.

On the other hand, the Moto G5S is usually cold. It is a little hot only after playing games or watching videos for a long time. The phone is smooth to use and is not slow at all. It has 4G VoLTE and the call quality is fine. Moto G5S is not very effective for multimedia due to reflected screen. We had to tamper with brightness level several times. Loudspeakers cause a very clear voice. Along with this, the quality of the headsade given is very average.

During the review, we also found that both handsets become hot during charging. We do not see this deficiency in every device.

Moto G5s Plus and Moto G5s Battery Life

The Moto G5s and Moto G5S Plus have a 3000 mAh battery. The battery capacity was slightly less, as the big phone has space for big battery. When used, the Moto G5S battery lasted for about 18 hours and the G5S Plus battery for about 14 hours. In our standard HD video loop test, the Moto G5S battery lasted 12 hours 35 minutes and the plus variant battery for 11 hours 15 minutes.

The good thing is that both phones come with turbopower adapter. The Moto G5S battery is charged 100 percent in about 60-70 minutes, while the Moto G5S Plus takes a little more time.

Our decision

The situation varies rapidly in the Indian smartphone market. In such a situation, the decision to launch a special edition variant by Lenovo seems correct. But the user of the old model will be disappointed. With the help of Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus, the company’s product lineup will look fresh. The sale of Moto G5S Plus will be due to dual camera setup, especially in front of the challenge of Xiaomi Mi A1 (Review). However, the user user can improve the experience of dual camera. Stock Androy has always been considered good, but it is also becoming common now. Fast charging support also goes in its favor.

The Moto G5S is much better than the Moto G5. But it will get a big challenge from Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Review) which is available at a lower price. The Moto G5S Plus will clash with Xiaomi Mi A1, which is also a little lower.

If you are a fan of Motorola, then Moto G5S Plus or Moto G5S will definitely attract you. Because they are excellent in appearance and according to their price, they give good performance in every department. We hope that Lenovo will soon rollout VoLTE support for Moto G5S Plus. Now apart from Jio, Airtel has also brought VoLTE service.
