There is tremendous competition in the price segment ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. In this price range you Asus zenfone max pro m1, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro And Realme 1 Like popular smartphones will be found. What Honor 8C Gives these handsets a strong challenge? Let’s know …
Honor 8C Design
Honor 8C’s body is plastic. The build quality is satisfactory. But it does not look as premium as a handset with glass and metal body of this price segment. If seen, old Honor 7C Also came with a metal blackplate.
There is definitely some difficulty in using this phone with one hand. The display equipped with a notch is not really without border. It has quite wide chin. The Settings menu has the option to hide the notch. In this feature, the side part of the Nokia becomes black. If you want, you can choose one of the on -screen button and EMUI gestures, which we had difficulty in using.
The fingers on the glossy plastic back easily fall. The phone also slips in the hands easily. A soft cover is present in the retail box. Its quality is not very spectacular, but the phone provides protection from scratches and the grip is also good. The retail box also has a 10 watt charger and also has a micro-USB cable. There is no headset that can cause some users disappoint.

The rear panel has cameras in vertical positions. The fingerprint sensor is in the middle of the device. Honor has tried to mimic his own Honor 10 gradient color backpanel in this phone, but it has not been completely successful. We did not like the black and blue gradients found for the review.
There is a sim tray on the left side of the smartphone. It has a separate slot for two nano SIMs and microSD cards. On the right side of the phone is the power button and volume rocker. The buttons are small, but the response is good. There is a micro-USB port, primary microphone and speaker on the lower back, which is small but it leads to loud sounds. Secondary microphone and 3.5mm headphone jack have got a place at the top. In the era of USB Type-C port, there is disappointment by seeing micro-USB port.
Honor 8C Specification and Display
Honor 8C has used Qualcomm’s new 14 Nm Snapdragon 632 processor. We have reviewed variants with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, which costs Rs 12,999. The market will also have a cheap variant with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Its price will be Rs 11,999. Both variants will support microSD cards up to 256 GB.
The smartphone has a 4,000 mAh battery. It will run on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The connectivity feature includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Glonas, Micro-USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The phone has a 6.26 -inch HD+ (720×1520 pixels) TFT IPS LCD display. The aspect ratio is 19: 9. The display is not praiseworthy. The viewing angles are fine. Colors Panchi comes. Brightness level is not enough. Text and image are not sharp due to HD+ resolution.
Honor 8C Performance, Software and Battery Life
The performance is fine. The smartphone plays well in common use. But more task starts falling behind. Even during navigation in UI, we realized a little lag. This problem was also seen in scrolling the heavy website on Chrome. Honor 8C is the world’s first smartphone with Snapdragon 632 processor. It is not clear whether the decrease in performance is due to the processor or there is a decrease in the optimization of Honor.
A complaint was received of frame rate drop while playing Asphalt 9 and PUBG game. But we were able to play games.
Face recognition works fast. This feature worked quickly when there is enough light, but you have to put your smartphone right in front of the face. In low light, the phone increases the brightness of the screen, so that the face is easy to scan. This feature is somewhat effective. We also found the fingerprint sensor fast and accurate.
Honor 8C runs on EMUI 8.2 Custom ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo. EMUI is a custom ROM equipped with many features, but it looks very complicated and many unwanted apps are also part of the UI. Google has a strange mix of its apps and Honor’s default app. As an example, Chrome is a browser and default messaging app of Android, while the dialer, file manager and gallery have a custom version of Honor. Facebook, Messenger, Netflix and Camera 360 are already installed. Apart from this, company apps like Hicare, Huawei Health, Themes, Honor Store and Honor Club have also already got space. The good thing is that EMUI also has one handed mode.

In our HD video loop test, Honor 8C’s battery lasted for 14 hours and 30 minutes. These figures are excellent. Performance is also solid in common use. The battery will easily support you throughout the day. EMUI has many power saving features. One of these features reduces the screen resolution when the battery is low. The smartphone does not support quick charging. The 10 -watt charger in the retail box takes about two and a half hours to make full charge of the phone.
Honor 8C camera
Honor 8C has a 13 -megapixel primary rear camera with F/1.8 aperture. Along with this, a 2 -megapixel depth with F/2.4 aperture in jugalbandi acts as a sensor. The front panel has an 8 -megapixel camera with F/2.0 aperture. Both camera setups come with single LED flash.
IOS -inspired camera app has many work features. It also has a Pro mode in which users can control ISO, exposure, shutter speed and white balance. The smartphone can identify select subjects or scenes being shot and then optimize the image settings. Currently, the smartphone can detect 22 different objects and 500 scenes. We did not like AI Enhancement. Pictures came to the face of shooting in AI mode and Colors were also more saturated. When the AI shut down, colors were more natural in the pictures taken in adequate light and also had a fine details. In wide aperture mode you can take photos with the depth of field effect. These pictures came a little better than average. However, the image quality came a bit weak with other phones in this price range.
When there was not enough light, the photos taken from this phone came dark and Merky. Many times autofocus was also having problems. With the help of AI innovations, the app is able to capture a little more light. But the lack of details in the photographs and the problem of noise remains intact.

The front camera is also fine. Most of the photos in our experience came soft and oversexed. The performance was very bad even in low light. The front flash proves to be somewhat helpful. But there is a lack of details in the pictures. Colors do not come accurate and photos seem to be too sharp. Beauty mode is also available for front and rear cameras. But the photos look artificial. There is also support for AR stickers. You will be able to record the highest 720 pixels videos from the front camera and 1080 pixels from the rear camera. There was a shortage of details in our test video and the video shakes were also recorded due to no stabilization.
Our decision
Honor 8C is nothing that can challenge smartphones like Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Nokia 5.1 Plus. Honor has tried to make an all -round device, but this phone is not even strong in any one department.
The phone neither looks premium nor gives a feeling. Its performance is disappointed in low light. The common performance is fine and the user interface is clotted. Battery life has power. You get a separate microSD card slot and the fingerprint sensor is faster and accurate. Brands like Xiaomi, Nokia, Asus and Realme have raised the level of the budget smartphone segment race. In such a situation, Honor needs to do more to come on top.
