Nokia 4.2 has a 2.5D glass on the front and back panel that gives it a premium look. On the other hand, nowadays most of the smartphones are coming with grades Finnish. The rear of the phone has a dual camera module, a flash and fingerprint sensor just below the rear camera. The rim of this phone comes with curved profiles and glossy finish. Nokia 4.2 certainly looks premium but also has a negative aspect. Due to the glass rear panel, dust particles and fingers are found. You will not get a protective case in the retail box, so you will have to buy it separately. Overall, Nokia 4.2 is one of the best looking phones at this price. Nokia 4.2 has only one variant that comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and is priced at Rs 10,990 in the Indian market.

Nokia 4.2 not only gives a premium look but its build quality is also good. Let us now talk about the specification of Nokia 4.2. The phone has a 5.71 -inch HD + (720×1520 pixels) display that comes with a waterdrop notch. Its aspect ratio is 19: 9 and pixel density is 270 pixels per inch.
Nokia 4.2 uses the Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor. There are 3 GB RAM for multitasking. The processor may disappoint a little when the smartphones at the same price or less are equipped with powerful processors such as Snapdragon 660 and MediaTek Helio P70 chipset.
If you increase the budget slightly, then you will also get a phone equipped with Snapdragon 675 or Snapdragon 710 processor. Nokia 4.2 has two cameras on the back. The primary sensor is 13 megapixels. This autofocus lens F /2.2 aperture. With this, a 2 -megapixel sensor will work in Jugalbandi. Nokia 4.2 is equipped with face unlock feature but it is not reliable nor works fast. On the other hand, the fingerprint sensor works well and unlocks the phone within a second.
Nokia 4.2 does not have blotware nor did we see any advertisements in the phone. A major advantage with Nokia 4.2 is that it is assured of OS updates as compared to the ridicule handset. Android Q and Android R for this phone will also be rolled out in the coming time. Also, the phone will also get security updates for three years. The viewing angles of the phone are also not very good.
Nokia 4.2 performance, camera and battery life
Let’s first talk about the display of Nokia 4.2. Nokia 4.2 has a 5.71 -inch HD + display, text sharp and video content also look well. If the phone is used outside in daylight, reflectiveness is a problem. Reading was acceptable in sunlight. However, it was difficult to watch dark background photos and videos.

A good thing about Nokia 4.2 is that it has a adaptive brightness feature for automatic brightness adjustment. Apart from this, night light mode has also been given to prevent any problem in viewing the screen at night.
Despite running on stock Android, we found Nokia 4.2 a little slow. We hope its performance will be faster. Take your time to load the app. For example, when other apps are running in the background, it takes some time to open the keyboard in WhatsApp and Twitter.
When it comes to gaming, Snapdragon 439 processor is not so much capable but we still saw the game playing in the phone to test it. We saw games like Temple Run and Candy Crush and this smooth went on but he played on heavy games such as Pubg Mobile on low-graphics but still takes time to load.
Asphalt 9: While playing Legends, we felt that the phone had slowed down. We have also seen Redmi Note 7 and Realme 3 coming in this price and when it comes to gaming, these phones perform better. One thing is clear that if you want to play the game regularly then Nokia 4.2 is not for you.
Now let’s talk that Nokia 4.2 camera performance. The pictures taken in the light of the day were good but the picture lacks sharpness and age details. The pictures taken in the natural light came crisp and the dynamic range was also above average. The colors in the macro shots were captured properly, the gradients appeared correctly but we got better results from Realme 3 and Redmi Note 7.
Apart from this, you will definitely be disappointed due to AR stickers, scene mode and artistic bokeh or lighting effect in Nokia 4.2. This phone also does not have low-light mode, so it was not surprising that noys and granny textures appeared in the pictures taken in the dark. Now talk about front camera. Photos taken from selfie camera looked natural. Along with keeping the phone subject and background separate, Blur Effect also applies. But there was a lack of sharpness in the pictures. You can adjust the intensity of Bokeh Effect while taking a picture.
There is an alternative beautification filter that works to enlarge the eyes, thin the jokes and smoothing the skin. This phone comes with Google lens which easily identifies objects. Even though it identifies it at a slow pace, most of the results were accurate.
When it comes to the video, both front and rear cameras are able to record videos on full-HD and HD resolution, but there is no way to adjust the frame rate or aspect ratio. Talking about the quality of the video, this is average. Colors look properly but there was some trouble while locking the focus.
There are two major troubles with Nokia 4.2 that may disappoint the user. While locking the focus, the phone has some trouble, due to which the quality of the photo is seen. The second big problem is that the phone slows down slightly. We often had to stay for a few seconds before trying to lock the focus again and tap the shutter button several times. This problem occurred with both front and rear cameras.
To check if this problem is happening in our review unit due to the old software, then we tested the second Nokia 4.2 phone which was running on the May 2019 security patch but we still had the problem of focus lock.
The 3,000 mAh battery works to revive this phone, which barely go on all day. We made some phone calls, used social media apps, web browsing for a while, watched some videos on YouTube and played games for about 30 minutes, not only that, not only the productivity app. The battery capacity is definitely the lower side.
In our HD video battery loop test, the phone supported only 10 hours and 13 minutes. Talking about charging speed, the charger that comes in the retail box takes more than two and a half hours to fully charge the phone. Nokia 4.2 does not have fast charging support. On playing about 30 minutes, 10-15 percent of the battery was consumed. Nokia 4.2 also gets slightly warm.
Our decision
Nokia 4.2 certainly looks good and many people will also appreciate its stock Android experience. Notification LEDs around the power button have also been given well, apart from this, there are no such benefits in the phone that can be told. Nokia 4.2 does not have a powerful processor, as well as its camera performance is also nothing special. The camera app does not even have many features that customers need. The price of Rs 10,990 is very high for this phone.
