The name of Irobot is very old in the Robot vacuum cleaner segment. The company’s Roomba lineup was associated with the entire product category for a long time. Due to this, many people started calling robot cleaner to Roomba. Now things have changed, especially in India where more affordable and multifunctional options are being introduced by brands such as Xiaomi and Milagrow and are drawing people’s attention. However, Irobot is still expressing its presence and its product range is officially available in India, including the new Roomba J7+ Robot vacuum cleaner.

The Irobot Roomba J7+ costs Rs 74,900 and is the most expensive and advanced product in the company’s ROOOMBA range. The clean base in the sales package comes with an automatic dirt disposal system that empties the dustbin of the device after cleaning. In this model, the company has further improved navigation, ability to find and ignore things. Is this the best vacuum cleaner you can buy? Find out in this review.

Design of Irobot Roomba J7+

Many brands place vacuum cleaning and mopping in robot cleaner in the same device but this is not the case in Roomba J7+. Rumba range products come only with vacuum cleaning function while Braava range comes with functions like wet pantha (weight mopping), so it is only a vacuum cleaning robot and comes with a clean base docking station. If you have a Braava device, both can work through the same app.

Its automatic dirt (garbage) disposal system is similar to Irobot Roomba i3+, but the docking station is smaller than that. However, it does the same thing. By collecting garbage from the robot vacuum, it can automatically dispose of its dirt bag for 60 days before it comes time to change the dirt bag.

There is only a big difference between the ROOMBA J7+ and J7 models (which is currently available in India) that the Roomba J7+ Automatic Dirt Disposal comes with a clean base dock while the J7 brings standard charging dock. It is as much as other cleaners in size but looks slightly longer than brands like Xiaomi, Milagrow and 360.

A single button is given on the top of the device that manually controls the device, while more easy control can be found through Irobot Home App by connecting to Wi-Fi. In the second devices, the top lid that can be opened, but in Rumba J7, a removable dust is found in the bin side instead. The front has a flexible bumper to bear the tremors on collision. Apart from this, the front has a primary camera and light which is used for visual cytanus localization and mapping (vslam) navigation.

Irobot J7+ is available in single black color and for walking it has 3 wheels in the bottom, two of which are motorized and are given in the front side like a free stabilizer. It has a single sweeper brush at the bottom and a double roller brush mechanism that helps in pulling garbage etc. in the suction area. The package consists of a replacement sweeper brush, a cable to connect the Hepa replacement filter for dust bin and the dock station to the power outlet.

Irobot Roomba J7+ Navigation and Mapping

Irobot Roomba J7+ camera -based Vslam uses navigation, a front facing camera acts like its eye. It also has a headlight which also shows the way at the time of the device working. With its help, it works accurately and there is no problem even in the dark.

The device with a front facing camera is able to navigate better than the rest of the cleaners. This lidar works equal to the based navigation and also easily clean the dining table and the chairs.

Due to the more resolution and visibility of the camera, it knows the surrounding space well and does cleaning accordingly. So if you want to go from one room to another or clean the carpet of the room, it is easily done. Divais took several test runs to make the layout of my house. It measured the division of the room well so that it could easily navigate inside the room.

In simple words, navigation has improved a lot, it is in great improvement with other vacuum devices. The chair, the legs of the table, etc., ignores the legs, which reduces the conflict etc. The second room door did not go to another room even when it was accidentally open. Many times he did not go to another room even after giving this instruction. It first fixed its way and then went to the room.

A particular feature of this is to ignore the obstacles and ignore a pet stool on the floor in the house. I could not test it for pet’s stool but it easily ignored cables, towels and clothes lying on the floor.

On several occasions it took a photo of such things and reviewed, I instructed the device to leave this area or clean it when the object is removed. The device differences between a temporary interruption and permanent obstruction.

Irobot Roomba J7+ App

All brand devices can be controlled with Irobot Home App. The app is easy and works easily with Rumba J7. It also provides mapping, cleaning, battery life as well as other visual representation. If the house is connected with Wi-Fi, you can control it from any corner of the house.

You can also set your favorite cleaning task in it such as the entire house or a room. Apart from this, you can empty the dustbin of the robot, change the map to set the boundaries of the room, make no-go zone, create a clean zone and make a cleaning schedule and also control the basic settings of the device.

There is a drawback that when it is working, the map does not show its location and cleaning status. Later it updates only the cleaned area, which is the only flaw of this device. The app clicked the time to clean the room.

Irobot Roomba J7+ Cleaning

Vacuum cleaner of other brands especially maintain suction power and you can also modify it, but the roomba j7+ contrast. It automatically calculates and decides how much suction power will be needed to clean an area. For this, it moves slowly and carefully.

On behalf of the user, it is just to instruct which room to clean, after that the device goes to clean from there. Lidar-based 360 S7 takes 35-40 minutes to clean my entire house but Rumba took an hour. This happened because it cleaned better.

I found that the device was increasing suction power in more stubborn places but the voice was not hearing so much. This was just making a sound for a while. It cleanses quite well and can easily move on them. While many other robot cleaner are not able to run on them easily. Its HEPA filter also captures the particle of 0.1 μm size, so it also gives some protection against dust mites that produce allergies.

Its connectivity was stable. In the rooms where the Wi-Fi signal was weak, it also cleaned it easily. This means that I did not give any instructions to it through the app but still returned to my dock station after cleaning it. It also gave the area cleaning details that do not have Wi-Fi coverage.

Its Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal System is a much better improvement compared to the previous model. It not only small and attractive but also does good work. It works more confidently on J7+ than i3+. The dustbin of the robot is kept very clean, in which there is no need to put a man’s hand.

Its dust disposable system uses vacuum suction to empty the dustbin of the robot, during which it makes a lot of noise for a few seconds. However, it takes only a few seconds to do it. Garbage is collected in a disposable dirt bag that is installed in a clean base docking station. According to the company it lasts for 60 days. When the bag is full, the app will tell you about it and you can remove the bag and empty it. An additional bag is also provided along the device. Apart from this, a 3 bag pack can also be purchased for Rs 1,660. Due to this, it becomes expensive in long use.

Charging and battery life of Irobot Roomba J7+

According to the company, the device can run 75 minutes in a single charge in which it can clean 1800 square feet. It also depends on the layout of the house and the access of the rooms. I can also accept the estimate that the time of 75 minutes is stated correct. But in single charge it cleans 1200 square feet which is slightly less than the company’s claim. According to the price, its 2,210mAh battery is quite simple.

Irobot

There are many ways to know the battery level of the device as it shows the graphical estimate of the remaining battery during the operation. It used to save some batteries even after cleaning my house in single charge. Perhaps it may need to be re -charged in a larger area.

Like other such devices like this, it discovers its way to the docking station and keeps itself charge. Charging takes some time but it is normal for vacuum cleaners. After thorough cleaning my house, it took almost two hours to fully charge.

Our decision

Many devices in this segment are coming with cleaning and mopping, according to which Irobot Roomba J7+ looks a bit expensive for Rs 74,900. You can take a Braava Jet M6 for mopping. But then the price of these two becomes Rs 1,25,000 and two devices space also surround the house.

Its automatic dirt disposable system greatly affects and also proves it premium. If you look at the ease and better cleaning in its use, it can be purchased. If you have a budget, you can see it. If you are watching an affordable option then you can see Milagrow Imap 10.0 and 360 S7.
