Vivo X80 gets quite good hardware such as MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SOC, Zeiss’s juggling with a triple camera setup and a large battery with 80W fast charging. Is Vivo X80 that premium? I tested it to find out.
Vivo X80 price in India
Vivo x80 The price in India starts at Rs 54,999, with its base variant 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage model. I had this variant for review. Its second variant comes with 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage, which costs Rs 59,999. The company offers the phone in two colors- Cosmic Blue and Urban Blue.
Vivo x80 design
The Vivo X80 is well designed and all the elements are present in it which you can expect from a flagship smartphone. It has a large display with curved banks. This reminded me of the old Samsung flagship smartphones in which similar design was seen. The frame of X80 is made of metal which gives it a premium look. Power and volume buttons are given in the right side, and they are also made of metal. On pressing, they give solids and click feel.

The top and bottom of the phone have a flat frame. The bottom of the phone has a SIM-trip slot, USB type C port, primary microphone and loudspeaker. On top, infrared emitter, secondary microphone and two words of English are written- Professional Photography (Professional Photography) which suggests that the company has made a special focus on the camera.
The camera module given in the rear of the phone is quite large and it surrounds one third of the rear panel. It is also a little out but does not affect the stability of the phone due to growing up in size. The module has three camera sensors as well as laser autofocus hardware and a dual LED flash.
The back panel of the phone is made of glass and Vivo has given it to the Matte Finnish on Urban Blue variants. This finish does not allow the fingers to fall on it easily. The color of the phone is quite unique and the phone is seen standing apart from the rest of the rivals. If you do not like much bold colors, then you can also go with cosmic blue. The company has also given a case inside the box which has Fox Leather Finnish.
Vivo X80 is a large phone and comes with 206 grams weight. The weight of the phone is felt in one hand used, but the company has balanced the weight well, so it does not give much tiredness to the hand.
Vivo X80 Specifications & Software
The Vivo X80 has a 6.78 -inch AMOLED display with a resolution full HD Plus. It has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. It uses Schott’s Xensation Up Glass for scratch protection. The phone also has an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Vivo X80 is the first such smartphone to come to India which is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor. This chip is made on 4Nm technology and is accompanied by octacore design. Apart from this, it comes with four Cortex-A510 Efficiency Core which is clocked to 1.8GHz. The X80 has Vivo’s V1+ imaging chip. The company says that it has installed a large wapper cooling chamber in the phone, which keeps its temperature under control. In both variants, there is an option to use 4GB storage as RAM.
The Vivo X80 has a 4,500mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging. The charger is found in the box itself. For connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, 95G band, dual 4G VoLTE and NFC. It has 6 satellite navigation systems with Navic. The phone has been rated IP53 for dust and water prevention. The phone does not have a wireless charging feature.

Vivo X80 has Android 12 based Funtouch OS 12. My unit had a security patch of May 2022. Funtouch OS 12 finds a variety of customization options including custom themes. Its user interface is quite easy, but the phone has a lot of blotwear apps which I did not like. Most of these can be uninstall. Vivo’s own apps like browser etc. troubled me a lot. I kept getting spam notifications throughout the day.
Funtouch OS 12 has an ultra game mode for gamers. It can be accessed by a side bar by going to any game. It has a frame interpolation feature which helps in increasing the frame rate during gaming. It provides Eagle Eye View Enhancement feature which increases the viewing experogue during gaming. The phone also has an ESPORTS mode that blocks UI gestures, notifications and makes the CPU free for gaming. The company has promised to provide three Android generations and security patch updates for three years.
Vivo X80 performance and battery life
Vivo X80 has all the features of a modern flagship smartphone. It has a Panchi AMOLED display with viewing angles good. The phone has stereo speakers. I found the bottom firing speaker more loud than the earpiece.
The phone performs well in everyday use. I did not have to wait much to load the apps. I had an 8 GB RAM variant in which I got a default RAM extension feature. I had no problem while doing multi -tasking between the apps. Even if you are a heavy user, this phone is not going to disappoint you.

Its in-display fingerprint scanner was unlocking the phone at one time. The company also offers options to customize fingerprint animation. The face recognition feature also worked without any hassle.
Talking about the scores, it scored 983,481 points on AnTuTu. Motorola Edge 30 Pro And IQoo 9 Pro There were almost the same scores in which Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC is seen. In Geekbench 5, it scored 1250 points in single core and 4190 points in multi -core test. It scored 71fps in GFXBench’s car chase test.

I played Call of Duty: Mobile in it and the game went on very high and high graphics without any interruption. I played the game for 20 minutes after which the battery was reduced by 8 percent. The phone was not hot even after the gaming session. This means that its cooling system did a good job.
Along with performance, its battery life is also very good. It lasted this for one and a half days, which included social media apps and camera use with gaming. In our HD video loop test it lasted 15 hours, 42 minutes which is quite good time. Its 80W charger is quite large but Mi 11i Hypercharge The 120W available with is not as heavy as the charger. In half an hour, the phone was charged 80 percent and in the next 10 minutes it was fully charged.
Vivo X80 camera
Vivo X-Series phones are known for camera performance and have high expectations from X80. The phone has a 50MP primary camera in which optical image stabilization is also available. It also provides 12 megapixel portrait camera which has 2x optical zoom. The third lens is a 12 -megapixel ultravide angle camera. It does not have a gimmal stabilization, which is found in the portrait camera of Vivo X80 Pro.
Its camera app offers Zees Portrait Styles and Zais Cinematic Video Boke Mode. Vivo has given gi tee-coating on the camera lens to protect the lens from staining or deteriorating. This phone has a 32 -megapixel camera for selfie.
The camera app is quite easy to use. It is easy to switch between different shooting modes. The phone’s camera gets a by default watermark, you can also disable it if you want. Its day-light performance is quite good and the photo gets a good dynamic range. Far away things also appear with good details in landskep mode. The colors look slightly Panchi by default, but after enabling Zeiss Natural Color, colors are almost seen to meet the actual scene. Its ultra wide camera gives wide field of view but it shows light warm color tone. The photo is not like quality primary camera.

Close up shots are quite crisp and the photo background has a good natural boke effect. Edge detection is good in photos taken from portrait mode. There are many options to customize the output in this mode. The phone automatically switchs to the ultra wide angle camera when he comes to the subject. Macro shots are very good with details due to 12 megapixel resolution.

The phone surprised me with its low-light performance. This scene was quickly sending the scene and prepared the camera for a low-light shot. The phone took three seconds to click the shot but the details were very good. Things were easily identified in landscap shots. When the scene is dark, the camera app automatically suggests to switch to night mode. I found that even in street lights it handles the scenes well.

It captures the selfie in a 32 -megapixel by default resolution. Apart from regular selfie, portrait mode selfie also captured with details. Quality with screen flash in low light was quite good.

In Vivo X80, 4K videos can be shot from primary camera while selfie camera can shoot up to 1080p videos. I wish its selfie camera would also have a video recording option up to 4K. Apart from the day light, the videos shot in low-light were quite stabilized and saw a little shake while shooting in low-light. This phone of Vivo has a Horizontal line stabilization feature. Even after rotating the phone 90 degrees, it keeps locking the horizontal line there. However, footage in this mode can be recorded only in resolution of up to 1080p.
Our decision
If you are watching a flagship Android phone and do not want to spend much, then Vivo X80 can be that smartphone. The X70 Pro makes it a bit expensive but the improvements made are fully justice with its price. This phone from Vivo comes as a complete package with strong performance, good battery life, fast charging and powerful camera. Mediatik Dimensity 9000 SOC is quite powerful and can keep users happy. Software is an area where there is a mild scope for improvement. If the preinstold apps and spam notifications are low, the user experience can be better.
I would advise to buy its base variant which gives better value for money in 54,999. Those who are seeing its option, they Realme GT 2 Pro Or Motorola Edge can go with 30 Pro. Both get almost the same performance, with a little lower price.
